Autism 5-Point Scale EP 1.2

The Autism Help App is designed to assist individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other disabilities in communicating and regulating themselves during emergency situations. It draws on the concepts presented in "The Incredible 5-Point Scale" by Kari Dunn Buron and Mitzi Curtis, published by AAPC Publishing, to help users act promptly and appropriately during emergencies. By utilizing the 5 Point Scale, individuals can easily convey their anxiety levels and take necessary steps to ensure their safety without having to verbalize their needs. The app displays color-coded levels with corresponding facial expressions that escalate depending on the severity of the emergency. For instance, selecting "1" might indicate a minor issue like needing a band-aid for a scratch, while choosing "3" could signal the need for relaxation exercises due to a headache. Opting for "5" could signify being lost and requiring assistance from a policeman. The app can be tailored to meet an individual's specific requirements, allowing customization of emergency levels, photos, and responses for each family. Moreover, the inclusion of photographs of various emergency responders can aid in familiarizing the individual with local first responders.

Furthermore, Autism Help serves as an educational tool to help individuals with ASD and other disabilities learn to interact effectively based on the gravity of the situation.
